Gain Fast Mining Levels

In Runescape, gaining levels in the Mining Skill is one of the surest ways to wealth in the game.

At the time of this post, Linkbuilder is lvl 87 Mining, and is able to earn 1 million gp in three hours of game time by mining runite in the Hero's Guild - and you can earn that much too - even if you are not a Runescape Member.

I'll have to admit - Mining can get endlessly boring - though in the end, very profitable.

Generally, the are two strategies.

  • Gain Levels Fast - Make The Big Money Sooner
  • Make Some Money Now While Gaining Levels

As soon as you can mine coal - you can start selecting the strategy for you..

First Strategy - Gain Levels Fast

Simple and boring - mine iron and drop it.

Don't spend time going to the bank - you miss 5k mining exp for every trip you take. This strategy works best in three places in the Free Worlds - South west of Varrock, in the Dwarven Mines, and the Hobgoblin Mine at lvl 32 wild. Find a place where you can mine three iron, then drop three and mine three - repeat till you fall alseep. When you wake up - you'll be amazed at how fast you can level up. Once you get to 70 mining, you may want to change to the second mining strategy for a while - sell your Addy Ore for 800 to 1k each.

Second Strategy - Make Money Now

Another simple solution - mine coal till you can mine mith, then mine nothing but mith till you get to addy.

Coal Miners always can find buyers. Coal is a base commodity in Runescape so don't worry about saving up to much. You can sell your coal for higher prices if you sell larger amounts at one time. If you sell you mith ore instead of smithing, you'll always have cash on hand for all the other game costs.

If you sell your coal, mith and addy ore - your smithing levels will suffer - but, smithing is easy to catch up on once you start mining addy ore and especially with you get to mining runite! Don't worry about smithing so much until after lvl 70 mining...
